An amalgamation of joy, pain and melancholy

I was SUPPOSED to write something, about Teenstreet, which was still fun, and more educational compared to the previous instalment (to me anyway). - Joy

But. Succumbed to a bad bad sorethroat that feels like knifes stabbing your throat (merely implying that its a really severe one) followed by a dry cough which sent me whooping around, and still does, at time of typing (though, not so often now) -Pain

And in the midst of it all, started to realise that life from 2009 onwards would no longer be the same, ever again. - Melancholy

I could stop here if I'd liked to. But its pretty superficial if left this way, eh?

Lets start with what filled me with:

Joy

..sort of

Some say Teenstreet 2008 ain't as good as in 2007, in some number of ways, I'd have to agree. (Eg. in terms of food, duration of camp, etc)

But....
(yes yes, there HAS to be a 'but', somewhere)

I thought this years was a bit more educational compared to last years installment, not that last years wasn't that educational, just that I learned and realised some facts that I knew not before. Feel free to ask if you'd like to know more. I won't want to be preaching, yet.

But yeah, it was fun that it provided a reprieve from the near-monotonous (but still quite enjoyable, due to games) life I've been leading since SPM ended. Looked forward to testing out my new friend-making skills and techniques the D&D (Dance and Drama, not Dungeons and Dragons). I was involved in the drama part and..lets just say it was a fun experience, and a shocking one for my friends. Hehe. I had thoughts of doing dance too but after remembering how crap I was in dancing in a workshop last year I thought.."meh, maybe not" though I guess I might have slight regrets bout not joining dance too, considering its my last time as a participant.

On one of the Interact sessions on the 4th day of camp, had a full 90 minutes of football (or, at least i think its 90 minutes). First ever. Though, put it simply, the pole denied me a goal, and led to my teams defeat. -.-

My NET (just think of it as a group) was awesome. Felix (coach, the 'ketua', so to speak), Alexander, Max, Jeremiah, Raymond Jeff, Levi and myself. And our NET has the..unique honour of being the only group with an assistant coach (Levi). Best part was, we could have fun when we wanted to, and be serious when the need arises. And imagine, having my NET coach as my drama director too. I actually prayed that he'd be...reasonable. haha. But shucks, I missed the opportunity to take a NET pic as remembrance as Jeremiah had to leave a bit earlier. Guess I'll have to wait for the official group pics to be posted on the website and nab it off then -.-

In a nutshell, its fun, educational, and managed to meet a few new people mainly through the Drama team and through Gabs. And some random pics from the camp.

During one of the worship sessions, known as "Throne Room"

Resident bible "guru", aptly named, "Mat Bible" with a lucky person chosen to recite memorised verse.

Me being plain emo. Don't get me wrong. Its just for fun.

And.....in your face Gab-sicle!

Thats the boy who lived colloquial squeaker snoozing with his earphones on. Limited edition
Flashed right in your face, and you were none the wiser.=P

Thats right. I'm Mr Sandman. Could've slit your throat mate.
If only I had something better than a plastic ruler...
ps: click the link to find out more.

Me and Pastor Chris, one of 2 people who clarified really important facts about Christian life to me =)

"Satan" (in white shirt, back) and his "Demons".

Part of the drama team, myself Joyce and Esther.
people keep telling me how "fun" it'll be to work with an 'ang moh' but c'mon, shes still human like the rest of us, no?

That'll be Michelle Gan (I have to include the surname, shes the 4th Michelle I've known so far), myself Judith and Stephanie.

Bwahahahaha. I have to shame you with this, Dan. Too bad you won't see it.
Or maybe you might, if your pesky bro helps =P

This, is what happens if you're too slow for meals.
Traffic jams, good ol' Malaysian style.

Thats my very own Lotus Elise peeps. Look at the shiny silver projected..
Damn, if only it was mine.

Me: muah muah, darling baby.
Gabs : mhmm always be my baby...

The Limited Edition Teenstreet bedsheet and pillowcase. Signed by key members of the TS gang. The bunch of us pooled whatever pittance we had and got it auctioned off (yes, auctioned) for...RM180

This is ze dance performance. Enjoy!

Ze drama performance. Enjoy.

Alas, good things have to come to an end, headed back from camp, back to the monotony, that is everyday life.

And then,

Pain

arrives with a bang.

on the day I did my pre-L driving part, later I got a fever and succumbed to what would be 7 days (and counting) of sorethroat-that-feels-like-knifes-stabbing followed by dry whooping cough the major nemesis that has essentially doured whatevers left of my festive mood.

Cough caused a few sleepless nights for me. pfft. No better way to celebrate the festive season eh?

Melancholy

...strikes hard.

End of form 5 life. And along with it goes my extended induced laziness, flirting days long sleep hours, afternoon naps, semi-professional gaming, and countless daydreaming-while-staring-at-books (which was the norm in my high school life) once I start my Australian Matriculation programme. Oh I'll still be here, don't worry.
Not like anyone would.

Hitting full throttle and maintaining at top gear seems to be the name of the game from next year onwards, soon enough it'll be university life and then...gasp...

...working life.

it'll snowball all the way. Man...not a very pleasant thought. But, as the saying goes...

its change I have to believe in.

I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race

2 years in upper secondary.
5 years in SMK Sultan Ismail.

It ends with EST, which was probably the most fun paper in the whole SPM, if only I hadn't left out the last part of the format in the midst of the perplexity and the delirious joy of crafting the essay from the first sentence to the last drop of ink.
(screw it. They don't care much about the format anyway. They just want the elaborations. AND the scientific shit. whatever)

Goodbye. Its been bittersweet. More of a bitter taste. But it has its sweetness. Sometimes.

Regardless, its all over. And I don't even get much of a reprieve from all that. Save a months breather before hitting the ground running for pre-u. And beyond.

To-Do-List-Before-I-Die-January 2009

-Complete Fallout 3 AND Mass Effect at least once. (preferably twice)
-Sharpen up football managing skill through Football Manager 2009. Its been a year since I last managed.
-Pass driving theory exam (oh yet ANOTHER exam). And get my temporary license.
-Hang out with some dudes. Catch up on ol' times.
- Hopefully to do....something that somebody should know
-Stock up on more games.
- And even more games.
- And play them all. (duh)
- Without losing eyeballs in the process. Or my sanity.

Fine. put the last 4 together.

Its gonna be a busy December.

Tick. Tock.

Nobody's reading this at the moment. And I don't know why I'm still blogging. Or why I'm still spending hours on the comp with SPM on the horizons and firmly in view.

Heck, I can count it with both my hands now.

10 days to SPM. Brilliant. I hope the miracle salve is full. Need every.single.drop of it

Byebye. For real now. You won't me see me here till' SPM is done and dusted.
I may still reply chatbox messages, if there are any.
And you may still catch me online. hehe.

Signing off.

End of an era

After *I-dunno-how-many-years-actually* years of making History less painful to us all, Mr Marijan departs from SSI to assume a new role as...some Penolong Kanan role-whatever in SMK St Joseph. Not really well informed on that. But such is the really really low profile of his leave that it couldn't end any quieter. Just a final check out, and thats it. No grand farewell nor any formal acknowledgment or whatever. And it seems that defines the person he is. Despite getting all shrilly and ballistic at times (being the discipline master of the school, heh), but really, its a good history teacher that the school has lost.

And the pic above? That was, to say, an "opportunist's strike" as it was most convenient before he became somewhat unreachable. Ah well.

I just hope I get an A1 in History. harhar.

Disclaimer: The pics blur as its my friend's phone. Not mine. It doesn't give blur pics. hehe.

20 days to SPM. Tick tock. Tick tock.

Oxymoron-ic.

Malaysian politicians. You just have to love (some of) them.

Love and
Caring Act'
to rename the ISA

As coined by independent MP Ibrahim Ali in his suggestion to rename the ISA so as to "make everyone happy". Locking people up at will without trial and opportunity to defend one's self is considered a "loving" and "caring" act?

Brilliant. Absolutely bloody brilliant. Now we know why Malaysia is where it is at right now. At least politically.
But in reality, in many many other aspects, too.

25 days to SPM. Hmm......

Thursday, October 2, 2008

Wrapping it up.

40 $#@!-ing days to SPM.
-.- yeah yeah whatever.

At any rate, after today, I won't be blogging much (if at all). And these are just a few things to mutter about before the slight hiatus.

1) Jaslyn Gan's sexy 16th

Jaslyn Gan, one who can verbally out-talk most (thanks to debate experience) yet, outside the arena, appears to be the (konon-nya) super-sweet girly girl who talk what most girls talk about. You know what they are. At any rate, you did have a great 16th, with a surprise you never saw coming. Though I was invited to join the gang, I'm unfashionably grounded till SPM ends. Slight disappointment really. But anyway, cherish it girl, its something to savour and remember in your lifetime. ;)

Pic courtesy of...sunrae

2) Words of encouragement for MEshell.

Recent events have taken quite a toll on you, I can tell. I won't mention what they are, as you know them yourself. And its understandable if you begin to feel listless and not-so-hopeful of how things would turn out. But mich, keep praying like you always have. Some events in life can be really harsh and unexpected as I'm sure you know, but, whatever happens, be strong... and never lose hope. Ever.

3) A message to sunrae

You transfered to SSI in March. And at that time, I only knew you as "that new girl". It started with a rather random add through Friendster (which I hardly use nowadays) and some sms-es later, we got along as fine pals. And how much a few months can do to that "new girl" tag. From what I can extrapolate, you came feeling rather apprehensive about how things would turn out, having moved from the relative comfort zone that is Subang Jaya, where all your fond memories and friends were. And not to mention all the problems that you were facing. I did what I could to help. Perhaps I only thought of myself as a stopgap measure before your sis came back and before you find your footing in SSI.

And I guess, I can finally say that you have finally found your footing here, with the friends and all. I suppose it can be fair to say that my task is basically done. After SPM is done and dusted with and I go on with studies to who-knows-where, at least you'll be thriving well enough in school to make it sufficiently enjoyable.

4) To my fellow SPM warriors (for lack of better term)
Well. All the best peeps. Its been 5 years in secondary school. And its time to make the most of those years of fun, or agony. Whichever applies. Give your best, and let God do the rest =)

5) Post-SPM hitlist.

I just HAVE to write about this. Self-indulgence at its best after SPM.

Ok fine no details. I don't have avid gamer readers anyway. Red Alert 3 looks rather anime-ish. Spore is cute though XD.

But Fallout 3's gonna be MASSIVE.

for more info on any of the aformentioned games just ask me....or check any freaking game website you lazybone! XD

Cheers. Pray for my SPM. heh.

more tags. yay.

1 ) Are you allowed to have a bf/gf?
My mum constantly pesters me if I have one or not. But technically, no. Not yet.

2 ) Describe urself in one word.
erratic.

3 ) Who would you pick, someone who really loves you, or the one you love?
Neither would work, in practice. It has to be both ways.

4) Have you ever loved someone BEFORE but never had the courage to tell him/her?
"Love" is a strong word. I have not truly asserted that feeling yet. But there are people I care for, and perhaps that is the basis to love. No further comments.

5 ) Does it feel good to love?
It is a wonderful feeling, and lack of it can drag people down the dark road.

6 ) What's the best thing to do with the one you love?
With the one you love, anything, be they silly, dumb or usually plain, can be an enriching experience and they can all be the best thing that can be done with a loved one.

7) What will you say to someone who doesn't want to believe you??
Believe it or not, its your choice. I only say what I saw/believe/heard/etc

8 ) Was there ever a time that you tried to learn to love someone?
Yes. Throughout teenage years, trying to understand and comprehend the deep, compelling nature of truly loving someone, that it is caring for the other and wanting only the best for him/her. Knowing and learning is one thing, but understanding it and practicing it, is a different matter altogether

9 ) What's your opinion about someone who's jealous?
They should be thankful with what they have

10 ) What would you say to playboys/playgirls?
Don't come near me.

[[ * PART 2 * ]]

1 ) Best place to cry?
Lock myself up in a room.

2) Who do you love the most?
Theres not one that stand out to be "the most". There are quite a handful, so to speak =)

3 ) Tell us about ur dream last night?
I dreamt that I was dreaming.

4) Ever hated someone so bad?
I used to hate some school people before, back in primary school days. But now, I try not to hate.

5 )The biggest & most hurtful lie you heard?
Not so much a lie. I basically got more verbal abuse than deceitful lies.

The last person..
-you had a beer with?
Cousin, his family, my family. Cousin's birthday bash. Just now

-you went to the movies with?
Uhm............Gabs and sunrae, a few months ago.

-you talked on the cell phone with?
mich. haha.

-you hugged?
Cousin.

-you yelled at?
The karaoke set.

In the last week have you..
~Kissed someone?
no.

~Danced crazy?
no.

Think of the last time u were angry, why were u angry?
When I read about the brutal murder of Lai Ying Xin in the newspaper. The people who did that were cruel, inhumane. You'd feel the same way too.

If you could do anything OR wish anything, what would it be?
I'd rather work for it or pray for it. =)

If you could have an all expense paid trip, where will you go?
Heaven, if that counts. harhar. Otherwise, Paris would be nice.

Would you or have you ever blackmailed someone?
Aside from being a joke, no.

Are you old fashioned?
Far from it.

What would be harder for you, to tell someone you love them or that you do not love them back?
Hmm. I think both are quite ok for me to say. hehe.

What thing would be the hardest thing for you to give up on?
Peace, serenity (they're 2 things, but, well, they come in a package, I suppose)

5 Facts About Me:
I game.
I laze
I (would love to) do booze (on a more regular basis)
I (think I) am more inclined to Biology
I'm reserved. Quiet. Usually.

5 Things that Scares Me:
Fags. Smokes. they go together
Excessive blood/gore in real life. Pixelated ones aren't that bad.
Mental depression. I get it quite a lot.
Watching my death unfold before me. (eg. in a plane thats nosediving to the ground)
MEshell. hahahahahhaahahhahaha.
Physics. History. (count them as one, as they fall under subjects)

7 Songs Playing in My Head Lately:
Sorry. Not doing this one. Not really up to date with the songs of the current times.

7 Words/Things I Always Use:
Words
Duh
Meatbag
dude
brudder
lawl (as in, one syllable. like, LAWL)
barsket
shit
*no, I do not use F-words. At least, its usage has been greatly reduced from before. harhar*

Things
Computer + Internet
stationeries
Cellular service (as coined by Naqi, meaning the cellphone larrr)
organ

I tag...
sunrae
MEshell
jaslyn gan
grace tan (I just had to tag her, hehe)
esther lian (oh esther. if she still has the time for little tags. haha)

Many things can happen in 2 weeks.

Lets not talk about trial exams. For they're inexorably boring and un-stimulating, it'd make a dead, rolled over bear roll over even more in its stenching grave.

Its not bloody over yet anyway. Theres still Biology paper 3 on Tuesday.

Fine. no more about it

***************************************************************************

News 1: 916 didn't materialize.

Joy for some. Despair for others. Kinda potong-steam to me. And its appearing more and more like a soap opera being dragged on and on unnecessarily. Anwar's proposed plan to topple the Government and set up a Pakatan-ruled cabinet has hit a roadblock. Or has it hit the wall? Only time will tell whether the 30-odd + MP's that he claims to have "acquired" is the real deal or a rant on cloud 8.5 (not at 9 yet).

News 2: The brutal kindapping-murder of Lai Ying Xin

One of the most inhumane acts thinkable, the kidnapping and the subsequent brutal manual strangling, killing and partial burning of a really innocent 16-year girl who really only wants to lead her own life happily. Why? (presumably) the dude who was ditched by her just couldn't take it. IF he really liked her, he wouldn't do this to her but instead try to make her happy and want only the best for her. But, no. He (if it really is him) only wanted to fill personal needs and when he didn't get her, he had to kill her in the most cruel way possible. And it transpired right here in Johor. When you look at that smile, and then imagine what those bastards did to her, it'll fill your eyes with tears and make your blood boil in anger as to how they could ever do such a thing to her.

News 3: Dumb usage of ISA. And even dumber reasons for using it.

Tan Hoon Cheng. Teresa Kok. Raja Petra. "Victims" (if you could say so) of the liberal, unjustified use of the Internal Security Act (ISA) by the police. Tan was released after around 18 hours. Teresa Kok after about a week. Raja Petra? Maybe they wanna keep him in longer cos they think he's a "threat to national security" with his forthright views on "that-which-must-not-be-said-or-I'll-end-up-detained-under-ISA" in his blog and on MalaysiaToday. As for Tan, Syed Hamid's reason for her detention was "for her safety". For what "safety"? How can you keep someone safe by detaining them under the ISA? The ISA is meant for people who are suspected to be GENUINE threat to national security (suicide bombers, nuclear terrorists, anthrax dealers, etc. you get the picture). Not for someone who reports what is said by some overly racist dude from Bukit Bendera.

News 4: The SPM Pendidikan Moral exam issue

The SPM Pendidikan Moral exam is pushed back 1/2 hour later than scheduled. But that ain't solving the mental/physical torture that's to be endured by 17 year old non-Muslims all over the country, what with 2 papers of Add Maths followed by Moral, which is effectively 7 hours of brain busting goodness. They HAVE to change the day. Guess they're really threatened by us "squatters"(as said by somebody) and want to subdue the majority of us "squatter" students. Hmm....what are they afraid of, eh?

********************************************************************
The Chronicles of Ahmad Ismail, (former) head of Bukit Bendera

But Chinese leaders want Ahmad Ismail himself to apologize.....

Yearp. Thats Malaysian racial harmony for you.

The calm before the storm.

Trials is around the block. I could've said sayonara to History, if not for some useful pointers from the good ol' History teacher. So....yes. I'm officially ditching (not totally, but, hmm. 90% of) Form 4 chapters 4-8 (though I already read chapters 4 and 5, which are pretty ok) and form 5 chapters 3-8.

Which leaves me with just Form 4 chapters 1-3, 9, 10. And form 5 chapters 1,2, and 9 to read through. Thoroughly.

I'm sure you don't understand one shit I'm talking about. Doesn't matter. (Hopefully) You'll know when you're form 5, to those concerned.

No time to chronicle all the events (of lack of it) that has passed in recent days in DEEP DETAIL. But just a glimpse of it anyway.

1) My kind and thoughtful class (ahem) threw a surprise (mini) birthday bash for our form teacher, Cik Norlela on Merdeka eve. The class collaborated and decided that some remain in class so that the class looks "deserted" and while she laments the apparently barren class, the rest of the class "taking refuge" in the next class marched (to put in a way) into the class, with the cake, of course. And, yay to one period of BM used up for eating cakes and snacks =P

At 7.10 am.

Bday girl and her cake. heh.

Erm. 2nd class photo. Minus me. I was the "official" photographer of this event.

yum.

2) Suan actually bought a snack from Singapore in an increasingly desperate attempt to prove her "sweetness" (or, heck, dire lack of it lah) She's hoping the caramel choc bar is as sweet as her*coughcough*
Not sure bout that one, but thanks anyway =P

3) For Johorian's, Form 5 Trials on Monday! SMK Sultan Ismail's standing army, OUR trials starts on Saturday @%^$$^@&$^$%#$%#!!!! But whatever lar its EST.

4) omg Man City actually signed Robinho -.- Proudly sponsored by their Arab owners.

Arabs. you gotta love them.

p.s. some pics can't be uploaded yet. later.
p.p.s won't be blogging for some time.

Of newspaper wizards and mutated buns.

23rd August 2008
A day where a group of convent girls gathered at one common place. To celebrate their years together. Of trials, hope, and lost love. Where a selected few guys attended, as well. Think we guys had a lot of fun?

Well, I forgot to mention.

Convent Old Girls.

Ok. So, lets just skip all the usual happenings as they're what you normally hear about regarding functions and all, speech, dances, food, the not-so-lucky draw, and games. Oh. yes. who would've thought that the boy who lived the squeakster Gabriel was to be the one I'd be seated next to and mingling around with practically the whole time?

I knew that quite some time ago. though

Now,the fun part. (at least, in the case of one particular squeakster)

The final touches

Y'know, Potter will be turning over in his grave

Videos of the *cough* boy who (didn't really) lived

And here are the various pics taken throughout the night (which isn't that many, really)

The same old conventional camwhore shot.

See the squeakster in his cutesy, pitifully adorable pose.

Gabs: gazzzorrr
Me: uhm. HEEHEE.

sunrae, don't die laughing.

cute buns. made with love. using chopsticks.

Phelps would find this amusing.

As reported in TheStar today.

Lin Dan : "...However, the gold medal has confirmed the fact that I'm an outstanding sportsman."

"..outstanding sportsman"

Well, that may be a gold. And golds may be hard to come by in the Olympics. But just one gold and, outstanding sportsman?

Phelps has 8 golds in this Olympic alone. And swimming is no easy feat either.

And, if Phelps were just as arrogant (but he isn't), he would've thought, "If that guy has one gold, and considers himself an outstanding sportsman, then, I might be a demi-god or something"

*shrug*

Best. News. Ever

"PLKN: Maaf! 910107015943 tidak terpilih menyertai PLKN Siri 6 / 2009."

and another SMS. Just to be sure.

"Harap maaf. Anda tidak terpilih untuk menyertai Program Latihan Khidmat Negara bagi sesi 6 / 2009"

C'mon la. Do away with the "maaf" already. I'm probably the happiest person in the universe (at least, at this very second)

*EDIT*
To be triple sure, my dad checked online, in the official website.

910107015943

"No. KP anda tidak terdapat dalam senarai calon terpilih"

Now I am at peace.

Hysteria

Last year in high school may be the best or the worst time, depending if you're loving and enjoying every single minute of it, or despising it worse than the cina peks slurring with those colourful words of theirs. As for my class, its a bunch of loons and goons on the borderline between the "elites" and "the rest" (simply put, 3rd science class out of 5, the middle) and its all wacked up. Here they are. Random expressions taken randomly. Some for laughs. But most importantly. Its the memory.

Woi. Belum sedia lagi la oy. -.-

half baked shot. take 1

Take 2

Almost ready

The end product

So early. So dark. Yet Ilmanee still smiles through the dark in spite of it.
thank my cam flash for the dark effect. harhar

Not enough sleep. Don't blame me.

Take a good look at this pic...and then interpret it however you wish.

Shameless camwhore. I know.

The gangstas

The Boss

Thats whats on my mind every time I don the shades.

Looking to the future.

My emo shot gets screwed up by that stray middle finger. bleh

This one. The only non-class related pic.

Tis' be hysterical.

Believe me.
I'm amazed as to how I came up with THAT expression.

Cheers. For now.
